lamaPLC Simatic

Simatic S7-1500 Siemens SIMATIC is one of the world's most widely used, highly reliable, modular automation systems. It is not affordable in terms of prices, it can be said to be damn expensive, but you have to pay for the quality.

The system has been on the market since the 80s, initially with a PLC family called the S5.

The S7 family was introduced in the early 2000s, with the 200, 300 and 400 PLC series and the programming interface now called Simatic Classic. This was replaced by the Simatic TIA Portal about 10 years ago, which integrated HMI (WinCC) in addition to programming solutions. At the same time, the 1200 and 1500 PLCs entered the market and can only be programmed with the TIA Portal.

Simatic can be programmed in several programming projecting languages, the so-called KOP / FUP (contact-plan, function-plan) for beginners. Programmers usually choose between AWL and SCL. AWL (Anweisungsliste / instruction list) is an ASSAMBY-like language, while SCL (Structured Control Language) is most similar to PASCAL.

On this site, I mainly deal with SCL, as I have been working with it for more than 10 years.
